I can’t believe Piedmont is paying the cost of having an election in March 2008 when there are also statewide elections in February, June, and November 2008. The school district and city should consider moving council and school board elections to one of these other dates to save money and also increase turnout for our local races-

I agree. And so does City Clerk Ann Swift who mentions this in her staff report for the 9/17 city council meeting; though you’d never know it from the agenda which simply says: Announcement regarding the election timetable for the Regular Municipal Election on March 4,2008. It does require a change in the City Charter, so this change may come at Piedmont’s usual glacial pace. You might want to e-mail Ann with your thoughts (and perhaps mention it to Abe F. when you see him) and ideas you might have about how to accomplish this change as quickly as possible.
