Piedmont Relays!

Annual Piedmont Relays Will Be Held Monday-April 30th

The Piedmont Recreation Department’s “Piedmont Relays,” the annual track and field meet for kids, is coming soon.  The meet will take place on Monday, April 30th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at Witter Field.  The children from Beach, Havens, and Wildwood are invited to attend and the meet is for grade levels 3 to 5.  The meet events consist of a relay race, sprint race, distance run, turbo javelin throw, shot put, long jump and high jump.  Plus returning this year will be a hurdles race, with slightly taller hurdles for the 4th & 5th graders to jump over.  Registration forms for signing up for the meet are available at the Recreation Department and at each school.  Or you can sign up on-line, the link is:


There is a $10 entry fee if you register in advance and it includes a meet t-shirt.  You can also sign up the day of the meet at Witter Field.   Proceeds from the meet benefit the Recreation Department.  For more information, please contact David Weisgerber of the Recreation Department at 420-3074.

“Raising Resilient Children and Adolescents”

Piedmont Parents Network, along with the Parents Clubs of PMS and PHS, and the Wellness Center, are proud to present Dr. Robert Brooks, author of “Raising Resilient Children and Adolescents”. 
Dr. Brooks will outline an approach to help children and adolescents deal more effectively with stress and pressure in order to be more resilient.  He will provide specific strategies for nurturing self-discipline, responsibility, caring, hope and resilience in our children.   This program will be May 3 at 7:00p in the PMS Multi-purpose Room.  Suggested donations of $10 at the door, all proceeds will benefit the Wellness Center.  RSVP to Kathy.wheadon@gmail.com.  This program is open to all, however reservations are strongly recommended.
Dr. Brooks is one of today’s leading speakers on the themes of resilience, self-esteem, motivation, and family relationships. During the past 30 years, Dr. Brooks has presented nationally and internationally to thousands of parents, educators, mental health professionals, and business people with a message based on encouragement, hope, and resilience. He is renowned for the warmth and humor he uses to bring his insights and anecdotes to life. His stories are largely based upon his own experiences as a clinical psychologist, father, husband, and son.  To both individuals and professionals in every field, Dr. Brooks provides expert guidance on the most fundamental and important issues: building personal and professional self-confidence…balancing the demands of the home and workplace…dealing more effectively with stress and pressure…defining the characteristics of successful leaders and managers…and creating success strategies at work and at home that last a lifetime.

Piedmont Notice of Regular Meetings – Revision 3

Pursuant to Government Code Sec. 54954.1 this is the official notice of City of Piedmont meetings during the month of April, 2012. All meetings are held at 120 Vista Avenue, Piedmont, unless otherwise noted.

Agendas for meetings will be posted in City Hall and the Piedmont Police Department at least 72 hours prior to each meeting. Copies of all agendas may be requested from the office of the City Clerk, 120 Vista Avenue, Piedmont or by calling 510-420-3040. Notice and agendas of special meetings will be provided at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.

Piedmont High Presents the 47th Annual Bird Calling Contest

Piedmont High Presents the 47th Annual Bird Calling Contest

Piedmont, CA – Piedmont High students are making preparations for the 47th Annual Bird Calling Contest.

This year’s contest will take place on Friday, May 4th, at 4PM in the Alan Harvey Theater, located on the Piedmont High School campus, 800 Magnolia Avenue, Piedmont, California. Tickets are $15 adults and $10 for K-12 students and seniors over the age of 65.  Alleviate having to arrive early to get a great seat by purchasing Reserved Seating for $25.  Purchase tickets on-line at www.piedmont.k12.ca.us/phs/. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the box office on the day of the event.

Since 1963 students from Piedmont High have carried on the tradition of competing for the title of best bird caller. In addition to bragging rights, the top three finishers in the competition will be heading to New York where they have once again been invited to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman.
