6th Annual Buzz Redford Tri-School Dads Softball Tournament

Posted by Len Gilbert on June 14, 2012

Players, fans, kids…everyone is going to have fun and raise some money for the three elementary schools. Principals from all three elementary schools are throwing out a “first pitch” at 9:15 followed by the traditional a cappella tri-school dad’s club rendition of our National Anthem.

Since 2007 the dad’s clubs from Piedmont’s three elementary schools each field a “pay to play” team. The winning school chooses an APCP program to receive the entry fee funds.

Piedmont’s youth soccer, baseball, and softball leagues make good use of Coaches’ Field. On off days, families have been known to picnic in the outfield.

There are no picnic tables, but there are restrooms, a pay phone, and a bike rack for those who are willing to brave the slopes ofMoraga Avenueon two wheels.

Your thoughts on public safety in Piedmont

Posted by Len Gilbert on June 6, 2012

Come to the town hall meeting on Thursday, June 21st, 7:30 in council chambers to have your thoughts, ideas, and issues heard regarding police patrols, crime issues, selecting our new police chief, and other public safety issues.

There has been an increase in crime in Piedmont, especially below Highland Avenue. Where previously the main crimes in the blotter were theft of cell phones and change from cars, recycling theft, and kids bikes snagged from front porches, we are now seeing daylight break-ins, home invasion, burglary when residents are home, significant automobile theft, and armed robbery. See what the Piedmont Patch has been reporting at http://bit.ly/PoliceActivityPiedmontCA

Public testimony and comment on this matter is welcomed. Written comments may be sent to City Council, c/o Piedmont City Clerk, 120 Vista Ave., Piedmont, CA 94611 or by email to: jtulloch@ci.piedmont.ca.us. Correspondence received by the city clerk is considered part of the public record.
