Posted by Len Gilbert on October 22, 2013

(And the Giant, and the Goose, and the Really, Truly-Uly Rotten Day)

East Bay Children’s Theatre is the Bay Area’s oldest continuously operating theatre company. We are an adult company performing for children and families. We rehearse and perform Tuesday, Thursday, and every-other Wednesday mornings. Time commitment is early January through late March.

Casting 4 Men (age 18 – 60) and 3 Women (18-60). Plus 2 lead roles for Young Adults: 12-17 (excellent opportunity for home schooled kids), as well as Ensemble roles. Stipend Paid ($420). Non-AEA. One Intern position available for candidate with professional theatrical ambitions ($700).

Auditions: November 6 at 10:00 am. Kehilla Community Synagogue, 1300 Grand Ave, Oakland, CA. Accompanist provided. Bring music in key. Cold read. No dance. Can’t make the date? Drop us a line and we’ll see if we can work out an alternate. For more info, contact: ebctheatre@gmail.com
This all-new musical version of the classic tale will delight children and adults alike with its upbeat attitude, clever comedy, and Broadway-style songs. The wacky cast of characters includes the troubled titular character (Jack), an overworked and underpaid Golden Goose, and a diminutive Giant with an enormous Napoleon Complex!

With a sparkling new script and score by award-winning writer-composer Ron Lytle (the Bay Area’s most prolific creator of new musicals), and direction by Sue Ellen Nelsen (whose many honors include directing the San Francisco Chronicle’s #1 Show of the Year), JACK AND THE BEANSTALK promises to be must-see entertainment for the entire family!
