Bruce Valentine on Youth Sports & Lifelong Wellness

Bruce Valentine on Youth Sports & Lifelong Wellness: Thursday, January 31

Concussions and knee injuries affecting professional athletes dominate the headlines, but do you know which sports cause the most injuries in young athletes? The answers may surprise you. Male and female athletes of all ages are equally vulnerable to injury, and more than half of youth sports injuries are caused by overuse.

Parents and coaches are invited to hear from — and ask questions of — Bruce Valentine from the Sports Medicine Center for Young Athletes at Children’s Hospital on Thursday, January 31 at 7:00 pm in Ellen Driscoll Theater, 325 Highland Ave.(Note venue change.) Valentine, a parent himself and the Program Manager for Athletic Training Services at Children’s, will address what parents need to know about raising healthy student athletes and viewing athletics as part of lifelong wellness. This is a free event.
