The East Bay Modern Quilt Guild is proud to present Stitch Modern, 3rd annual quilt show at the Piedmont Center for the Arts with a number of events including a workshop, panel discussion, lecture, and fun special celebrations and activities.

Author Reading — Have some fun this Sunday


On Sunday, February 16, 4:00 p.m., Piedmont author Gary Rinehart will be interviewed by Piedmont Post Editor Gray Cathrall as the two discuss Rinehart’s recently published novel, “Nude Sleeping In A Hammock.” ¬†This intriguing story of a famous, life-size statue with a mysterious origin and its odyssey from Florence, Italy to Piedmont, is full of local color and period background.

A noted raconteur, talented pianist and attorney, Rinehart proves he can weave a mysterious story with the best. Don’t miss this fascinating afternoon with author and editor,¬†both of whom share a passion for piano playing.

Admission is free. Autographed copies of the book will be available for purchase, with funds donated to the non-profit Center for the arts. Refreshments will be served.

The Center is very proud to announce a series of five chamber music concerts featuring Berkeley Symphonymusicians and guests.  The opening concert will be on Sunday, September 15 at 5 p.m and will feature legendary violinist Stuart Canin.  Buy advanced tickets online using Brown Paper Tickets (link below).

AISCE Student Photography exhibit on view September 13-15 with an artist reception on Saturday, September 14, 4-6 pm.

Robert Houser Photography Show, September 20, 21, 22 with reception on Friday, September 20, 5-9 pm, exhibit entitled¬† “Faces of Chemo” a special show.

Opera in Piedmont!¬† Saturday, October 5th,¬†International Renowned Opera Star Recital¬†— Antonella Romanazzi will sing popular opera arias, while Joe Gold and Marco Cadario will play fantasies inspired by the great operas.
West Edge Opera will premier at the Center on Saturday, October 26th in a Halloween inspired opera.

Piedmont’s Renowned Cellist¬†Ian Jones¬†in concert with¬†Miles Graberon Friday, September 27th at 7:00 pm.

Hello Friends of Piedmont Center for the Arts-

Happy New Year!¬† A great line up of fun upcoming events are planned at the Center.¬†Starting January 18 is the watercolor art show of¬†Julie Cohn.¬† Enjoy a special cello and piano recital on Saturday evening January 26 by¬†Ting Chin and Lori Lack.¬† Then on Sunday afternoon January 27 the¬†Community Women’s Orchestra¬†will hold a Chamber Concert Soiree.¬†¬† On February 1-24, the¬†Modern Stitch Guild¬†returns with more than 20 quilt artists showing their creations.¬† The evening of February 1 is the madcap sounds of the¬†BiRdS oF PlaY.¬†The sounds of harpsichord music will be heard on February 9 with the international artist¬†Alexander Sung¬†playing a program of Mozart.¬† The unique sounds of¬†Voci Women’s Vocal Ensemble¬†will enchant us on February 10.¬† If you ever wanted to try your hand at acting, thePiedmont Repertory Theater Group¬†will be holding a¬†casting call¬†for two Thornton Wilder Plays the evening of Thursday, February 14.

January 18-29, Julie Cohn Watercolor Painting Art Exhibit.  The watercolor painting show of Julie Cohn entitled Contemplation/C e l e b r a t i o n will be on view January 18-27.  Friday 1/18, Saturday 1/19, Sunday 1/20, Friday 1/25, Saturday, 1/26 and Sunday, 1/27.  Gallery Hours are 12 noon Р3:00 pm.

Cellist Ting Chin and pianist Lori Lack to performs works of Vivaldi, Schumann and Beethoven. Admission free. Dessert reception to follow.

BiRdZ oF PlaY quartet is a madcap group of veteran rockers and pickers with deep roots in the Bay Area, including singer/songwriter Donnalou Stevens, percussionist Susan Jette,  singer/guitarist Woody Trevorrow and guitarist Barry Silverblatt.  Plenty of refreshments and a unique blend of folk, country and rock!  Tickets $15 at the door.

Piedmont’s Center for the Arts Celebrates Anniversary

On August 24, 25, 26 – The Center will celebrate its ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY.¬† Musical and art events will be held over the weekend. Mark your calendars.¬† Open to ALL. ¬† At the same time on view in the galleries will be the artworks of 15 teachers and staff members of the Piedmont Unified School District, August 24, 25, 26, 12-3 pm.¬† Open to ALL.¬†¬† Visual Artist Ralph Reed’s art show will be on display August 31-September 9 and an artist reception will be held Saturday, September 1, 4:00-7:00pm.¬† Open to ALL.¬†

Piedmont Teacher & Staff Art Show –¬†A special art show highlighting the creative talents of the teachers and staff of the Piedmont Unified School District.¬† Come see the works of more than 15 artists. ¬†

Community Open House, Art Show and Musical Concert. ¬†FREE – Come check out the Center, enjoy refreshments, see the art show of the teachers and staff of the Piedmont Unified School District, and listen to A Musical Petting Zoo Concert, plus get a chance to hear, see, touch, and try out stringed instruments. Professional musicians/teachers –¬†Debbie Dare, Betty Wu, and Natalie Cox will talk about and perform¬†on violins, violas, cellos, string basses, and harps.¬† ¬†


August 31-September 9 — Ralph Reed Art Show – Artist Reception September 1st, 4:00-7:00 pm.¬† Open to All.
